Fun-loving Kate McArdle (Susan Saint James of McMillan & Wife) and her more traditional childhood friend, Allie Lowell (Jane Curtin of 3rd Rock from the Sun and Saturday Night Live), adjust to life as single moms while sharing a home and going through the trials and tribulations of raising their children in New York City. Critics raved and ratings soared as the show, one of few sitcoms set and filmed in New York City, became the only top-ten rated sitcom of the 1983-84 season. Starting as a mid-season replacement, it ran for 6 seasons and a total of 122 episodes and earned Jane Curtain two consecutive Emmy® Awards for Best Actress and Bill Persky Persky (The Dick Van Dyke Show, That Girl) an Emmy® for Best Director. Enjoy the warmth and laughter of this ground-breaking show and remember just how good a sitcom can be. |
